Lisbon is stunning capital city of Portugal, and is one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities in Europe. It is a city that effortlessly blends traditional heritage, with striking modernism and progressive thinking. Lisbon is bustling and exciting that boasts a wide selection of activates and fascinating tourist attraction. It has a welcoming and liberal atmosphere, while still embracing its deep-rooted heritage and extensive history.

Lisbon is a year-round destination, with warm summers and mild winters. Hot summer temperatures are cooled off by the Atlantic breeze, while in winter they never reach the freezing point. Although it’s known as a sunny city and for being the European capital with the mildest winters, it can also rain for days between November and April. Weather at that time of the year is quite unpredictable, but in the spring there may be downpours for one hour followed by clear skies and sun. Because many of Lisbon’s top attractions are outdoors (the viewpoints, beaches, and even the palace-hopping in Sintra), visiting in the wettest months may not be a good idea. The high tourist season is between June and September, Late May and mid-September may be the best times to visit, as temperatures are mild, it’s good enough for days at the beach, and the crowds are fewer.

The coast around Lisbon has a variety of beautiful beaches. If you’re in Lisbon for just 24 hours, the neighborhoods that you can’t miss are Alfama and Belém. The first one is the village-like medieval district on the waterfront topped by the castle, and the other is the monumental district of the “Age of Discovery,” with the World Heritage landmarks and major museums. Downtown is Baixa, an urban planning wonder of the 18th century, with lively squares and shopping streets. They lead up to Chiado, the city’s most elegant district, where everyone meets for coffee or dinner, before joining the street parties in the neighboring nightlife districts of Bairro Alto and Cais do Sodré. Up the hill is Príncipe Real, a trendy neighborhood with green spaces, cool shops and restaurants. Then there’s Parque das Nações, the modern waterfront district, with contemporary and futuristic architecture and a scenic promenade.
